Lyfeguard, a client intelligence and information infrastructure platform built for wealth management and private client professionals, today announced that Gary Smithson has selected the platform to serve his client base. The partnership marks Lyfeguard's first deployment outside the UK, with Gary being based in Asia and advising clients across the World

Lyfeguard enables wealth managers and independent financial advisers to move beyond fragmented client records and build a more complete, dynamic picture of each client's circumstances. This includes permissioned visibility into held-away assets — external pensions, investments, and liabilities — often accessed via open finance connections. That depth of insight supports firms in evidencing Consumer Duty compliance by maintaining a current record of client needs, life-stage changes, and potential vulnerabilities. It also supports intergenerational retention by mapping family relationships and bringing beneficiaries into the digital legacy process early, while reducing annual review friction by allowing clients to update their own information and upload documents in real time.

Gary Smithson specialises in advising British expatriates who work or have worked in Asia, operating independently as an appointed representative of Farringdon Asset Management. His practice spans financial planning, retirement, legacy, repatriation, business exit, and other pivotal life milestones.

Fraser Stewart, Co-founder and CCO at Lyfeguard, said:

"Gary embodies what modern financial advice should look like. His goals-based, information-led approach puts the client's full picture at the centre of every engagement, which is precisely what Lyfeguard is built to support. We're looking forward to welcoming his clients onto the platform and learning alongside him as we take Lyfeguard into Asia."

Gary Smithson added:

Life as a British expatriate is often an amazing experience, but it comes with a high degree of uncertainty and instability. As an adviser to such clients, our work goes far beyond spreadsheets and investments and extends to organising and structuring of general financial and life plans. Lyfeguard is an important extension of our service, giving clients one safe and secure area to their information and grating access to loved ones even when on the other side of the world.

About Lyfeguard

Lyfeguard is a client intelligence and information infrastructure platform built for wealth managers, independent financial advisers, and private client legal professionals.

The platform gives firms a structured, living record of each client's circumstances — spanning held-away assets, liabilities, key documents, family relationships, and life-stage information — updated directly by clients in real time. This enables advisers to move beyond point-in-time snapshots and maintain the kind of ongoing client insight that supports better advice, stronger compliance evidencing, and deeper long-term relationships.

Lyfeguard integrates open finance connections to surface held-away asset data, maps family structures to support intergenerational planning and beneficiary engagement, and provides a secure environment for clients to store and share essential personal and financial information with their trusted professionals.

The platform is FCA-authorised, ISO 27001 certified, and headquartered in the United Kingdom.
